Ever want to head back into the past and play the old Atari 2600 games? Well you can right on your computer through Emulation. I been into Emulation for some time and I have about 65,000 games from almost all the consoles. Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Intelivision, Nintendo, Sega Master System, Arcade and more.
The best Atari 2600 emulator is Stella
http://stella.sourceforge.net/Many Rom dumps from the 2600 cartridges can be found here...
http://www.atariage.com/software_search.html?SystemID=2600It's very simple to run the emulator. Download the stable zip version of it on your desktop or a place of your liking and unzip it. Make a folder where the Atari icon (Stella) is called Roms with in the unzipp folder.
The Roms folder is where you will put the rom downloads in. You can keep them zip up also as they will work.
Next do a search on a game you want to play. Lets do Pac-Man for example. When searching you will see a list of the games and the company who made them or sold them.
With Pac-Man you see Jr. and Ms. also.
To download the rom, check to see if there is a

icon in the ROM row. If so, download it and save it into your Roms folder you created.
Now that you have the Rom, lets play the game :)
Start up Stella, you will see a Green & Black window. It will ask where the Rom path is. Click on the Path button and select the Roms folder you made and hit Ok.
Now you should see the games lit load up. Simply pick the game you want to play you downloaded and hit the Play button.
F1 picks the level or game setting and F2 starts the game. The Arrow keps move your guy and the space is to fire or jump. If you hit the Tab key when the game is started, you can adjust other settings such as the video to make the window bigger.
That's pretty much it, have fun playing some classics :) List any questions you may have. If the Atari Age website doesn't have the Rom, it is out there on the net some place.
