K, so my hubby was given a WoW account, so of course being bored to death I gave it a try. While it can be fun, for some reason I just can't get into it. It's seems very simplistic to me. I am never able to log in and play for more than like an hour without getting bored.
I understand why people who have never played an MMO like it, it's great for learning. However, as a seasoned EQ'r I want something more challenging and in depth. Just my two coppers worth.

As far as DDO goes, I have an awful time just getting past the controls ARGGGG. I'm on a seven day trial on the X server. And I"m really PISSED that someone took my name Zaneta. I might enjoy playing if I could find people to group with. I might not. Don't know.

Hey Zan,

most of the folks ya know from Tempest eq2 are on Xoriat. I finally started a new character last night while they were running around doing some endgame zones on Elite. If ya dun see Cyco, Haylen, Elsheyin or Karadoc (was a late edition in eq2 named Tabiana, ya may not know him) try looking for Cycostorm (original, I know) or Haylenh (yes, thats the same name with an "h" at the end). Cycostorm is only lvl1 and Haylenh is level 3.

Tabiani - June 4, 2006 05:31 AM (GMT)
While I was on as Tabiani (a halfling Bard), I'm really holding that name until they add Druids. But I figured out enough to roll up a human Bard named Cynnibar and will be leveling her up now that Karadoc is maxed out.

None of us from Dementia actually made it into Tempest as it turns out. Right after we voted there was some, umm, drama. The fallout from that, plus the PvP server and DDO, pretty much killed the guild.

Anyway, I'd say put me on your friends list. It's kinda broke right now but it does give notification when someone logs in or out. What name did you end up with?

hedao - June 4, 2006 12:53 PM (GMT)
im Playing a little wow on the medivh server

Hedena a hunter and sedao a priest. I picked a girl dwarf huter because they have big eyes and I just love to look at my eyes in the mirror.

Phedrey - June 6, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
Well I'm still enjoying it. Main is level 58. It's so big that we're finding lots of areas that our alts can level up in, instead of the ones we've already played. I'm over the 'cartoon' quality of the characters (compared to EQII) and used to them now and the world itself is pretty nicely drawn. There are many mechanisms in the default UI that are SO convenient for play. There are many instances to access in the game. Since I'm mostly one part of a duo, I haven't spent a lot of time in them through my Hunter's levels. They are full of 'elites' which would be like a ^^^ in EQ2 and I've not done any raids yet. ;) Mostly those seem geared for level 60's. There are many aspects of WoW that I've yet to explore at this point an PvP servers the world is an entirely different experience. There are also the battlegrounds on both kinds of servers for PvP.

I don't think it's the game to beat all games? It's fun though, and you can log in for 30 mins and go kill stuff to finish one quest and advance some.

We're only now looking for a casual guild to group with and be able to see some of those areas that need organized groups.

*shrugs* I'm enjoying it and I'm glad others are, since the economy is very dependent on having a good population. I'm sure eventually though, I'll be heading off to some new MMO.

Ahhh but you see..I don't play WoW and look at the simple, it is CRUSHING all :)

Actually what Toontown is made from a program called Python Programming Language. It is a Free Program that anyone can use under Open Source...

In layman's language, here are the primary features of Python's license. The following descriptions are not legal advice; read the full text of the license and consult qualified professional counsel for an interpretation of the license terms as they apply to you.

Python is absolutely free, even for commercial use (including resale). You can sell a product written in Python or a product that embeds the Python interpreter. No licensing fees need to be paid for such usage.

The Open Source Initiative has certified the Python license as Open Source, and includes it on their list of open source licenses.

There is no GPL-like "copyleft" restriction. Distributing binary-only versions of Python, modified or not, is allowed. There is no requirement to release any of your source code. You can also write extension modules for Python and provide them only in binary form.

However, the Python license is compatible with the GPL, according to the Free Software Foundation.

You cannot remove the PSF's copyright notice from either the source code or the resulting binary.

http://www.python.org/

Can't go wrong when you don't have to pay for a language and support and make a profit off of it where some places pay like $100,000 or more just for an engine. In other words, if you knew this language and knew how to program it you could of made this game.

And what Disney product wouldn't be Cartoonish..it's called TOONtown..aka Toon. If Warcraft was called Tooncraft then I can understand it being cartoonish :).

Also by no means is Toontown a walk in the park. It took a lot of time for me just to get 106 stat out of 110 then. Now it is higher since they added more stuff and I seen one as high as 122. Then to get your Cog suits up to level 50 takes a long time, I am only lev 8 Mr. Hollywood Sell bot out of 50 wich is really level 36. Then I still have Cashbots and Lawbots and the Bossbots aren't even in the game yet. Just to get to lev 8 Hollywood (Highest Bot suit) takes killing the main boss guy 35 times! Then another 40 some odd time to get max level for Hollywood of 50.

It is a simple game and it was actually fun to play believe it or not. I still have my account but I doubt I will play it ever again. I just wanted to show you the game that is beating D&D hehe.

But what is the fascination with showing me this? I play DDO because I enjoy it, not because 25 million others do not. It's like this, you are collecting dolls now because you enjoy it, what do you care if I dont? :)

See thats's the thing..I don't care :)

I just like rubbing things in at times..like putting salt into a wound hehehe.

It's like this....I like chicks..and you may like guys...either way..I don't care what ever floats your boat. :P

But you mention toonish..well that's what toontown is supose to be like even though I am not facinated with it ;)

Oh..and it is beating D&D..doesn't mater one way or another if you like D&D..I think D&D is cool..but not my choiseof game and rumor has it that it may not last to long in the grape vine...again just rumor....

Shit..I don't even hardly play EQ2 now as I am in an Anime phase...

Oh and you gota like the banner at the bottom of this thread if it shows for ya. For $199 you to can powerlevel your WoW character!!

No guild..thats my full toon name :)

Thats what the random generator made. When I was checking it, I kinda stole it from my GF kid at the time hehe. I just then kept the character as there isn't any difference over one or the other, just looks.

If you look at the sonce picture you can see other names of toons close by.

I won't be going to WoW any time soon or possibly at all. EQ2 will prob last for me after this next expansion in Nov. Right now I am with some of the top people world wide in EQ2 trying to form up a new raid guild.

Then once Vanguard is release, many of those people who were in guilds such as Clan Lynx, Malice, Dissolution that I been raiding with in Soverign at the time will be playing that game, unless it totaly bombs. It is looking good and has the EQ1 feel to it somewhat. Only thing that they need to do is tweak the engine, get a new toon artist since the toons are ugly and it be good.

Only people I know playing WoW at this time is Phedrey and Hedao.

Yea I hear about their scripting macros..Hit one key and it does everything for ya to the point almost you don't have to do anything..hehehe.

Many people I know that played WoW all say the same thing, they get bored at lev 60 raiding the same stuff all the time with not much to do. I am only going by what others say that have played it and I have heard more bad from the die hards than good. You guys need to get your expansion out soon!

Hmph...

All I have to say is... "Try it, you'll like it!"

And in the words of my much beloved Dad, "How can you say you don't like it, you haven't tried it yet." :P

Update: Joined a small guild that has an alliance with other guilds. It works pretty nicely, actually. They are raiding about 4-5 times a week. Every Monday a couple from the the alliance head up MC, another couple do ZG on Tuesday nights, and so on. So the responsibility is spread out through the week, which I'm sure helps with burn out. Pretty good group really. I'm very much enjoying it, with my hunter. :)

Yo, was only with Tempest for a short time....came over from Clan Lynx. Had Darzin (Cleric) and Wovaka (Berserker). Doin WoW now (Wovaka/Skryrivener on Chromaggus) so look me up. I don't know what the high end content looks like yet since I'm only 43, but so far the game rocks, and pvp has been DA BOMB.

Phedrey - March 7, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
Hey guys!

Guess what? Still playing WoW :P My main is 70, main alt is nearly 69... so much content and FLYING MOUNTS :)

Tried Guild Wars for a bit... when I just needed a break for a bit, but then the expansion came out and I've been busy there since.

Things are great in the RL too. :)

Hope all is well with you all... :)

Dman - March 8, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
Glad the expansion is good in WoW Phed.

Myself, I'm actually enjoying corpse runs in VG. Lol what a masochist I am.
